HORSES IN TRAINING

Meet the horses currently in training with David Dennis Racing.

BALLYNAHEER
2019
SEX: Gelding
Breeding: by Mahler out of Ballynagall

Owner: Mr David Purvis

Ballynaheer was purchased from the Spring May 2023 Goffs Uk Sale at Doncaster. He is a scopey chasing type who had finished second in a Maiden Point to Point at Edgcote, in April.  During the race, he travelled well and showed a good attitude to jump to the lead at the fourth last fence.  He settled in well last season at the yard and was sent hurdling where he ran promisingly on debut at Chepstow.  He then found heavy ground in the winter months wasn't to his liking.  He lost his maiden tag at Huntingdon on 1st April 2024 where he made all of the running to route his rivals, jumping well and winning comfortably by 7 lengths.  This was a memeorable day first-time racehorse owner, Mr David Purvis, who is a new owner to our yard.  Ballynaheer will undoubtably make a fine chaser in time and we look forward to sending him chasing in due course

UNNAMED
2021
Sex: Filly
Breeding: by Shirocco out of Beesplease

Owner: Sue Howell

This unbroken filly was purchased at the Spring Store Sales at Doncaster.  She is a half sister to Indy Five who was a very talented staying chaser for us at DD Racing. She has been broken in here at Edgcote by Jamie Goss who has a breaking yard on the estate and will be given time to adjust to our regime.  She will be aimed at Mares Bumpers before going hurdling possibly in the National Hunt Juvenile hurdles.

BROKEN QUEST
2012
SEX: Gelding
Breeding: by Ask out of Broken Thought

Owner: Wright Morgan Ltd

Broken Quest was purchased privately by David in February 2017 having run twice in Irish Point to Points finishing 3rd on his debut and then winning at Boulta on New Year’s Day 2017.  During his career Broken Quest is a nine time winner over hurdles and fences with career earnings amounting over £82,000 in win and place prize money.  After having to miss parts of his racing career due to injury, he went chasing in February 2021 at the age of 9 when he made a winning debut over fences, at Ludlow, which was a tidy performance.  Broken Quest gained confidence over fences and excelled in the spring of 2022 when he again won three races on the bounce at Wincanton, Ludlow and Market Rasen.  He is a pleasure to train and is another horse in the yard who could excel in Veterans’ Chases throughout the forthcoming season for his owner Wright Morgan Ltd.
