HORSES IN TRAINING

Meet the horses currently in training with David Dennis Racing.

BALLYNAHEER
2019
SEX: Gelding
Breeding: by Mahler out of Ballynagall

Owner: Mr David Purvis

Ballynaheer was purchased from the Goffs UK Spring Sale at Doncaster in 2023. A scopey, chasing type, he first caught the eye when finishing second in a maiden point-to-point at Edgcote in April 2023.

He settled in well at the yard and made an encouraging start to his hurdling career. He shed his maiden tag in impressive style at Huntingdon on 1st April 2024, making all and jumping fluently under Tom Bellamy to win comfortably by seven lengths — a memorable day for first-time owner David Purvis.

Ballynaheer was sent chasing last season and produced solid efforts with placings at both Uttoxeter and Wincanton in the autumn. However, after a confidence-denting run at Hereford setting him back, and he took time to regain his form. Encouragingly, he bounced back with a strong third place at Warwick in April under Johnny Burke.

Following a well-earned break, Ballynaheer has been freshened up, and we are hopeful it won’t be long before he’s in the winner’s enclosure over fences over three miles.

UNNAMED
2021
Sex: Filly
Breeding: by Shirocco out of Beesplease

Owner: Sue Howell

This well-bred four-year-old filly was purchased at the Doncaster Spring Store Sale in May 2024. She is a half-sister to Indy Five, a tough and talented staying chaser who was with us at DD Racing for nearly a decade, and to Hurricane Georgie, a six-time winner for Gordon Elliott.

She was broken in last summer and completed her first season in training, showing promise and a lovely temperament throughout. Following a short break in late spring, she has resumed work and is progressing nicely. The plan is to start her off in mares’ bumpers, before making the transition to hurdles in time.

TIME INTERVAL
2018
SEX: Gelding
Breeding: by Adaay out of Kuriosa

Owner: Clan McNeil

Time Interval joined us at Edgcote in the spring of 2024. A four-time winner on the Flat, he previously ran to a solid level for Roger Charlton and John Flint, achieving an official BHA Flat mark of 82. He made a winning debut over hurdles for us at Hereford in May 2024, landing a two-mile maiden hurdle despite racing keenly under Tom Bellamy.

He has been in fine form so far this year, running consistently well and winning two competitive handicap hurdles at Stratford and Warwick under Adam Wedge who gets on very well with him. We hope he continues in this vein over hurdles in the short term. He jumps hurdles particularly well, and we may look to send him over fences in the future.
