HORSES IN TRAINING

Meet the horses currently in training with David Dennis Racing.

BALLYNAHEER
2019
SEX: Gelding
Breeding: by Mahler out of Ballynagall

Owner: Mr David Purvis

Ballynaheer is a recent purchase from the Spring May Goffs Uk Sale at Doncaster. He is a scopey chasing type who has finished second in a Maiden Point to Point at Edgcote, in April.  During the race, he travelled strongly and showed a good attitude to jump to the lead at the fourth last fence.  He will have gained valuable experience in that race and the 4yo son of Mahler can develop into a chaser in the future for his first-time racehorse owner, Mr David Purvis, who is a new owner to our yard.  We wish him the very best of luck with Ballynaheer.

BRAVE STARLIGHT
2017
SEX: Gelding
Breeding: by Ask out of Sleep By Starlight

Owner: The Kingpins and David Dennis

B Starlight Sept.jpg

Brave Starlight has recently arrived from Ireland and has settled well here at Edgcote.  His sire Ask has been a prominent sire for us at David Dennis Racing in recent years as Schnabel and Broken Quest are both by Ask who won 15 races between them.  Brave Starlight was a winner of his Maiden Point to Point at Quakerstown in April 2023 winning by 2 and half lengths before finishing 3rd in a Novice Hunter Chase at Tipperary only beaten 4 lengths in May.  He made his English debut in the John Corbett Champion Novices Hunter Chase at Stratford in June where he finished second running a cracker leading over the last and only being outrun in the last 50 yards.  This was a superb effort considering he is relatively in experienced still and had only just arrived from Ireland a month prior to the race.  He is a tall scopey chaser who has the potential to run over fences where he looks to have a bright future.  His enthusiastic owners The Kingpins should have plenty to look forward to in the future and we wish them all the best of luck.

BROKEN QUEST
2012
SEX: Gelding
Breeding: by Ask out of Broken Thought

Owner: Wright Morgan Ltd

Broken Quest was purchased privately by David in February 2017 having run twice in Irish Point to Points finishing 3rd on his debut and then winning at Boulta on New Year’s Day 2017.  During his career Broken Quest is a nine time winner over hurdles and fences with career earnings amounting over £82,000 in win and place prize money.  After having to miss parts of his racing career due to injury, he went chasing in February 2021 at the age of 9 when he made a winning debut over fences, at Ludlow, which was a tidy performance.  Last season Broken Quest gained confidence over fences and excelled in the spring when he again won three races on the bounce at Wincanton, Ludlow and Market Rasen.  He is a pleasure to train and is another horse in the yard who could excel in Veterans’ Chases throughout the forthcoming season for his owner Wright Morgan Ltd.
