Meet the horses currently in training with David Dennis Racing.
GASMANI
2019
SEX: Gelding
Breeding: By Getaway out of Tasmani
Owner: Hardwick, Wright, Richmond
This half-brother to our very own Cyclop and Innisfree Lad was purchased at the Goffs Land Rover Sale in June 2022 as a store. A fine-looking son of Getaway who has similarities to his half-brothers and has plenty of scope which will stand him in good stead in the future. He had two runs in point-to-point bumpers in spring of 2023 where he showed a great deal of promise finishing fourth at Sandon in April 2023 on his final start. He made his debut over obstacles in a maiden point-to-point at Larkhill on New Year’s Eve where he overcame jumping left throughout the race on a right-handed track but still won by 15 lengths, which was an impressive performance for a four-year-old. He then made his rules debut in a bumper at Exeter, finishing fourth on heavy ground. He improved on this for his next start to win by a neck at Newcastle, which shows he possesses a great attitude to get back up to win after being headed. He had one run over hurdles in May, when he finished fourth and will be kept novice hurdling for a season before going chasing, where his future undoubtedly lies.
HARTHILL
2018
SEX: Mare
Breeding: by Walk In The Park out of Queen Isabella
Owner: Mrs Emma Stewart
Harthill is fine stamp of a mare by the extremely popular National Hunt sire, Walk In The Park, who was purchased at the Derby Sale at Fairyhouse, in Ireland, in June 2021 as a store. She was broken in straight after the sale and has had two seasons of training at Edgcote. She had 3 runs in Bumpers to gain experience and her fourth place on soft ground at Chepstow proved she clearly handles soft ground and has ability. She lost her maiden tag in a soft ground handicap hurdle in November 2023 where she quickened up well to beat stablemate Libor Lad which was a first ever one two for the yard! This was good performance considering her inexperience. Unforntaunatly she missed the remainder of the season, however she is now back in full training and we look forward to getting back on the racecourse this season. She has the size and scope to make a chaser in the future.
HOBIE
2017
SEX: Gelding
Breeding: by Coastal Path out of Beauty Blue
Owner: Dr Tom Davies, Steve Merry & Tim Wright
Hobie joined us at Edgcote in the spring of 2023 after two runs in Irish point to points where he finished fourth on his first start and won his second cosily at Lisronagh. He settled in well at the yard and had his first run at Exeter in a bumper where he travelled powerfully for the majority of the race. After racing too enthusiastically in a hurdle race over 2m4f he won his second start over hurdles at Worcester in a Maiden Hurdle where he settled well over two miles. He stayed on well to win by a convincing length and half under Gavin Sheehan. He was sent chasing and has began to fulfil his promise finishing second twice and we are hopeful he will continue to pay his way over fences in the future.
