Patience Is A Virtue For Sweet Victory

Posted on 09th May 2017

Owners The Ferandlin Peaches had their patience rewarded yesterday (Monday) afternoon when their homebred mare Bitter Virtue landed her first victory when taking the honours in the Priority SMS Mares’ Handicap Hurdle at Stratford.

It was a first win by David for The Ferandlin Peaches and to achieve it with a mare that they had produced themselves was even sweeter.

Bitter Virtue arrived with us in May 2015 just over 2 years ago and has been placed on occasions in bumpers & over hurdles but being a relatively tall but lightweight mare by Lucarno, has needed plenty of time to come to her absolute best. Ridden by Aidan Coleman, Bitter Virtue was always prominent in yesterdays race & was produced to take up the lead before the last before quickly running clear to land the spoils by some 13 lengths.

Quick ground is essential for Bitter Virtue so it is hoped that she can make the best of the very dry spell we are currently experiencing in the weather & we look forward to seeing her back on the track soon & throughout the Summer months.
