It has been great to see the horses all running well this week, with Broken Quest finishing 2nd at Kempton under Tom Bellamy for owners Wright Morgan Ltd on the 22nd November.  What A Glance, following his 16 length win on 12th November at Worcester under a great ride from David Bass for the enthusiastic syndicate Taylormade,  then had a close 3rd at Southwell on the 23rd  carrying top weight and giving the winner, an improving horse, a whopping 23lbs.  So it was fantastic to then see Merry Mistress win her first hurdle in fine style at Hereford racecourse, 24th November, under a confident and patient ride from Tom Bellamy who knows her well.  Having been knocking on the door in her 2 previous runs earlier in the season, now upped in trip, this tough mare jumped well throughout the race and cruised home with a 5 and half-length victory.  David purchased this well-bred mare for a bargain price of 10,000gns at the Goffs Land Rover sale in 2019.  She won her debut bumper at Hereford in 2020 so appears to like the Herefordshire track.  She has always shown plenty of ability and it was a delight to see her win her first hurdle in comfortable style.
