An Encouraging Week!
Posted on 03rd October 2014
It has been a pleasing week here at David Dennis Racing.
Like most yards now we are keen for some Autumn rain to allow us to get a few more of the winter jumpers out and with some of the wet stuff forecast for the coming weekend, we might not have to wait too much longer.
Meanwhile the remainder of the summer jumpers have been doing us proud as have the AW flat horses.
Last Saturday saw Roman Flight run a fair race in a competitive Listed Hurdle at Market Rasen and he is one that should enjoy conditions a little more once the ground gets some juice in it.
Footstepsintherain put up a very game effort over 7f at Wolverhampton on Saturday evening looking to be a little better off in the handicap now and should go very close next time out.
The hardy little Marju’s Quest ran his race as he always does at Newton Abbot on Monday.
He put up a really game effort carrying top weight over a trip that was perhaps a touch sharp for him. He has most certainly earned his holiday now and will have a break with a view to making a return to the track in the spring.
We were very encouraged by King’s Song in a National Hunt Flat race at Chepstow on Tuesday.
The 4yo son of King’s Theatre ran on well despite running a bit green to stay on for a nice 4th under a patient ride from Gavin Sheehan. We were very pleased indeed with this exciting debutant and he will have learned a lot from his first time on the track! He is another that will benefit from some give in the ground.
My Mo made the trip back to Kempton last night, the scene of his very close 2nd just a week earlier. Once again he ran his heart out to be beaten by the shortest of margins and looked the winner the whole way down the straight with the post just not quite coming in time for him. He’s really learned his trade now and providing the handicapper isn’t too harsh on him for last night’s run, he is sure to be in the winner’s enclosure very soon!
