Busy Day At Stratford

Posted on 29th July 2016

The David Dennis Racing team had a very busy day yesterday with six runners at Stratford and a further runner travelling to Nottingham.

My Mo was first up at Stratford and started the afternoon in glittering fashion with his first victory over obstacles to take the Jenkinsons Caterers Maiden Hurdle. My was always very prominent throughout the race making much of the running and duly stuck to his task to land the honours under Aidan Coleman for Favourites Racing (Syndication) Ltd 3.

Aidan Coleman was in the saddle again in the second race, this time partnering the super consistent Lucky Jim. Lucky Jim jumped well throughout the race and galloped all the way to the line having found the pace just quick enough, finishing 5th in the end. Next up was Marju’s Quest who had not enjoyed his experience over fences at Newton Abbot just three days earlier was much more at home here and ran out a very respectable 3rd.

Meanwhile there was a brief change of codes as our only flat runner of the day as Proud Show made his debut at Nottingham. The 2yo son of Showcasing was very green early on and will benefit hugely from the racecourse experience however we were pleased with his never say die attitude to gallop all the way through the line to finish 6th.

The 5th race of the day saw David saddling Deauville Dancer who travelled well early in the race before finishing 5th and he would have appreciated a lot more rain than Stratford received earlier in the day.

Our penultimate runner of the day was Daulys Anthem who has really found his feet since switching from hurdles to fences and this time it was the turn of Sam Twiston-Davies to do the steering. Daulys Anthem was up at the head of affairs for most of the way round until the pace quickened before turning into the home straight but Daulys Anthem ran pleasingly once more to finish 3rd.

Finally it was the turn of Rebel Benefit who had won comfortably over hurdles two starts ago at Huntingdon before disappointing back over fences last time at Towcester. Unfortunately no amount of cajoling from Sam Twiston-Davies could get Rebel Benefit into contention yesterday and he was pulled up.

All in all we had a great day and a lot of the owners & Favourites Racing syndication members were present to enjoy the afternoon.
