A duo of winners over the weekend were gladly welcomed when A Keen Sense & Marju’s Quest landed the spoils at Newton Abbot & Worcester.
A Keen Sense made the 3 hour journey down to Newton Abbot on Saturday with stable mates Retro Valley, who finished 3rd in the 2m1f Juvenile hurdle and Un Anjou who finished 5th in the 2m1/2f handicap chase but it was the Sholokhov gelding who’s turn it was to shine.
A Keen Sense who’s form had been at times disappointing, was losing his maiden tag when stepping up to 3m2f over fences with Jamie Bargary taking a very valuable 7lb off his back. This tall rangy 6yo was ridden handily throughout the race taking up the running three from home and sticking well to his task to land the Follow @ totepool On Twitter Novices’ Handicap Chase by a length.
Sunday saw us have two runners at our local track Worcester.
Hawdyerwheesht was the first of the duo to line up in the 2m1/2f novices chase where although finishing 3rd, will probably make a return to hurdling next time.
The 4th race on the card was the Totepool Racing’s Biggest Supporter Selling Hurdle and saw Marju’s Quest make all to go on and win readily by 9 lengths under Noel Fehily. The 5yo son of Marju was winning for the first time since March so it was great for him to get his head in front once again.
