Roman Flight Lands Big Prize At Newbury
Posted on 28th November 2016
Last Friday (25th November 2016) saw Roman Flight land his biggest prize to date when coming with a late run to win the bet365 Open Handicap Chase on the first day of Newbury’s Hennessey meeting.
Roman Flight has been something of a flagship horse for owners Favourites Racing over the past five years and on Friday took his winning tally to 11 wins and over £150,000 in prize money and not to mention gaining David’s 99th career winner as a trainer.
Held up early in the race, Roman Flight looked to be a little outpaced approaching 4 out but stuck to his task gamely and although still 5 lengths off the leader at the last rallied and ran on strongly all the way to the line to land victory under Noel Fehily by 1/2 a length in the end.
Roman Flight has since come out of this run very well over the weekend and could now well look towards a tilt at the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup Handicap Chase (Grade 3) at Cheltenham in December.
