Knocking On The Door!
Posted on 31st October 2014
We had three runners who were all knocking on the door on Wednesday 29th October and we were very unlucky not to have won with at least one of them.
The day started with a runner at local track Worcester where Un Anjou lined up in a 2m 1/2f chase under Noel Fehily.
Only four lined up for the event and Un Anjou looked the winner jumping the last but was unlucky to get collared close home by Morgan’s Bay.
Un Anjou has come out of the race well and will be winning his races very soon.
Our next port of call on Wednesday was an evening meeting at Kempton under the floodlights. First up here was 4yo Footstepsintherain in a handicap over 7f. He travelled well under Fergus Sweeney and was always running on before finishing 3rd beaten only a length on the line in a thrilling finish.
Set The Trend was our last runner of the day again steered by Fergus Sweeney in a handicap over a mile. The 8yo who has been in cracking form just lately was again flying home to only go down by a short head on the line where another stride would have seen him the winner. Set The Trend ran superbly giving 14lb away to both the winner and the 3rd placed horse.
He makes an appearance again later this afternoon (Friday 31st October) where we hope he can defy top weight to go one better under 5lb claimer George Downing at Wolverhampton in the 4.25.
Another runner today is Tyre Hill Lady who goes in the 1.20 at Uttoxeter, a mares only maiden hurdle. This lovely mare ran well to be 4th on her hurdling debut 10 days ago at Worcester and is a promising horse for the future.
We have three runners this weekend on Sunday with Key To The West making the long haul to Carlisle for his seasonal debut in the novices handicap chase over 2m 4f.
Another two runners make their way to Huntingdon in the shape of Hawdyerwheesht in the claiming hurdle and Steel Summit in the 2.20, a handicap chase over 2m 1/2f. The former is a new recruit to David Dennis Racing having been bought out of a seller at Stratford just a week ago.
Steel Summit is making a return to the track having had a break since July and we are hopeful he can give a good account of himself on Sunday.
