Christmas & New Year Runners
Posted on 21st December 2017
All of the horses have been running well just lately with our most recent winner being Schnabel at Ludlow on 6th December & we have enjoyed lots placed efforts with the likes of Crank Em Up, Shanty Town & Zee Man all making the frame.
We have a busy time ahead now as we look towards the Christmas period with lots of different racecourses providing festive meetings.
Both Crank Em Up & Swissal are set to take to the stage on Friday 22nd December with the former heading to Uttoxeter for the Betfred “Watch Sky Sports In Our Shops” Handicap Chase (2.55) where Aidan Coleman is booked to the ride. Meanwhile Swissal will be lining up in the 32Red.com Nursery Handicap (5.45) at Wolverhampton with Dougie Costello doing the steering. Swissal was a winner last time out so we are hoping he can continue in the same vein whilst Crank Em Up was 3rd last time out at Wetherby staying on all the way to the line, so fingers crossed he can improve again on this latest effort.

We then look towards our post Christmas Day entries which see the likes of Cyclop, Final Nudge, Norse Light & Steel Summit amongst others, all with various options.
Currently Cyclop, who was 2nd in the Southern National at Fontwell back in November will be aimed at another long distance handicap chase at Market Rasen on Boxing Day in the Clugston Lincolnshire National Handicap Chase over 3m3f. Stablemate Norse Light also holds an entry at the Lincolnshire track but could sidestep that engagement & head East to Huntingdon instead. Final Nudge who was so unlucky to miss out on victory last time out in the Badger Ales Trophy at Wincanton last month holds entries in both the 188Bet Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase at Wetherby on Boxing Day & the Coral Welsh Grand National Handicap Chase at Chepstow the following day with the latter being the preference over a marathon trip of 3m5.5f.

Further entries over the festive period could see Danecase taking up either a Wolverhampton option on Boxing Day or waiting a couple of extra days & heading to Lingfield whilst Steel Summit holds opportunities at Leicester (28th December), Doncaster (29th December) & Exeter on New Years Day.

Shanty Town could also be seen out again soon, this time at Warwick with entries at their New Year’s Eve meeting. Shanty Town has been 2nd on both of his previous starts over fences & deserves to get his head in front for owner Mrs Emma Stewart.

Looking towards New Year’s Day we have entries at both Exeter & Cheltenham which could see Zee Man having just his second start after finishing a very pleasing 3rd in a bumper at Herford on his racecourse debut on 16th December for owners B & S Vaughan. Another having only had just the one career start in a point to point earlier in the year is the Mrs J. Hitchings owned Mr Washington who after having won on his point debut back in April 2017 could now make his yard debut around New Year time.
We are looking forward to some great days racing over the Christmas & New Year period & fingers crossed we will have some luck along the way. David & the team here at Tyre Hill Racing Stables would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our suppliers, supporters & owners & to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas & a Successful & Prosperous 2018!
