A Duo Of Winners
Posted on 10th December 2014
The last three days has seen us enjoy two very welcome winners.
Since Un Anjou won at Musselburgh on 28th November we had a further three runners before Ballybough Andy came up with the goods at Huntingdon last Sunday (7th December).
He was making his debut over fences under rules in the Jack Berry House Novices’ Handicap Chase and gave a flawless display of jumping to land the spoils under jockey Noel Fehily for owners Corbett’s Stud.
The huge 5yo has always looked a chaser in the making and we always thought that a step up in trip would suit but it was fair to say that he surprised us a little with the way that he travelled and jumped so well throughout the race to win by 1 1/2 lengths under top weight. It was a very pleasing display for a novice.
We didn’t have to wait very long for our next winner as it was our very next runner two days later when Key To The West won the 32Red Casino Interactive Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase for owners Favourites Racing at Uttoxeter yesterday (9th December).
The 7yo Westener gelding who won three Novice Hurdles on the bounce throughout November 2013 has taken a few runs to warm to his fences but yesterday saw him put up a fine front running display to win at the fourth time of asking.
He jumped fluently and confidently yesterday to win easily by 9 lengths under Gavin Sheehan and we are hoping that he can only build on this latest effort and continue to progress.
